Longview Soccer Club provides two types of soccer programs:
Recreational Soccer Rec soccer provides a foundation for younger players to learn and dvelop the fundamental skills of soccer. At U11 and above, more competitive games are played and socre is officially kept by the Referee. However, the primary goal of Rec Soccer is for players to have FUN! Rec soccer has both Spring and Fall seasons. These Rec seasons are open to all boys and girls ages 5-18.
Participants are welcome from all area school systems, with games being played from September through October for Fall season, and March through June for Spring season.
Select Soccer Select soccer is competitive soccer. It is intended for those players who show an affinity for the game, and a desire to train for and play a highly competitive level of soccer. It is for players who are interested in advanced development and preparation for the high school level.
Teams are established with the approval of the LSC and CYSA Board of Directors. Unlike Rec league, to be considered for a Select team, you must attend try-outs and be selected. Open try-outs are held every Spring. Tryouts are generally in May. Go to the Cowlitz Youth Soccer Association website for details. http://cowlitzyouthsoccer.com Select teams often travel outside of Cowlitz County for games, and may play year-round at various tournaments. Teams start at U-11 (4th grade) and go through U-19.
